Three Different Everyday Makeup Looks

Three Different Everyday Makeup Looks ("I got three looks, and that's IT!")

I’ve been really finding my solid makeup “look” the past year, and I realized that this “look” can be broken down to the most basic elements, depending on the situation and how much time I have. I don’t go over 20 minutes - ever, and I like things to be quick and easy. It’s the opposite of clothes (IMO): you can never be overdressed, but you CAN be overly made-up. So I resort to a simple look that I know I can do well and I know will look good.

When I look to my icons or the girls with the best looks for inspiration (and hope lol), it comes down to what I just mentioned, surprisingly. For example, Marilyn Monroe and Allan “Whitey” Snyder. When she made her first film until her passing, her makeup look didn’t really change. They found the best look, which made her look like a bad bitch (because that look for everyone is different) and stuck with it, through thick and thin. I’d recommend looking at Lisa Eldrige’s channel for seeing all of the different looks of bad bitches past and present, and you’ll see the same thing. The key isn’t products or being good at tracing someone else’s look— but finding the one for YOU. What worked for Marilyn probably won’t work for me, and what works for me may not work for you, etc.

Prep work is the same everytime— La Roche Posay Antihelios AOX Antioxidant Serum SPF 50 and Glossier futuredew (for more info, read my 2019 Favorites— find it here. )

Look 1: Minimal
The Time: 5 minutes
The Place: School, Grabbing a coffee, etc.
The Name:  The “I want to look alive but I’m too tired to really try” look.
***
-Warm-up Mary Kay CC Cream in my hands and blend out in a sheer layer—> just a wash of color to even things out a bit
-Glossier Cloud paint in any shade (I typically reach for dusk because it's like a bronzer and blush in one)
- Fill in the brows with Mary Kay Precision Brow Liner// Use Glossier Boy Brow to keep brows down
-Curl the lashes and apply Glossier Lash Slick
-Apply an Olio E Osso Balm or a sheer lip gloss on the lips

Look 2: Mid-way
The Time: 10-15 Minutes
The Place: Work, Grabbing Dinner, or getting invited to something really last minute
The Name: The Serving Look
***
-Warm-up Mary Kay CC Cream in my hands and blend out with foundation brush—> add dots more where more coverage is needed
-Apply Maybelline Fit Me! Foundation Stick under the eyes and on blemishes and blend with fingers or the same foundation brush (I like using a foundation instead of a concealer for lighter coverage)
-Glossier Cloud Paint in any shade
-Lightly apply Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel as a bronzer/contour under the cheekbones, forehead, and very very lightly across the bridge of the nose for a sun-kissed look with fingers or the foundation brush (hey! It's a good brush— AND it’s angled, so it’s perfect for this product)
-Dab Glossier niteshine as a highlight on the cheekbones
- Fill in the brows with Mary Kay Precision Brow Liner// Use Glossier Boy Brow to keep brows down
-Apply a very thin line of eyeliner (typically Lancôme Le Crayon Khol Smokey Eyeliner or glossier colorslide—> browns and blacks are my go-to)
-Curl the lashes and apply Glossier Lash Slick
-Apply a very light layer of a second mascara on the outer lashes
-Dab a lipstick (Think Lancôme’s Sugared Maple or Revlon’s raisin rage) lightly for a tint on the lips

Look 3: Fully Made Up
The Time: 15-20 Minutes
The Place: Going out, Vacation (think NYC), or experimenting in my bathroom at 3am.
The Name: The Marilyn Look
***
-Warm-up Mary Kay CC Cream in my hands and blend out with foundation brush
-Apply Maybelline Fit Me! Foundation Stick on blemishes and blend with fingers or the same foundation brush
-Apply Yves Saint Laurent  Touche Eclat on the brow bone/above the lip/tip of the nose. Blend with fingers or a small fluffy brush.
-Apply NYX HD Photogenic Concealer on the eyelid/under the eye.
-Lightly set concealer/t-zone with Glossier Wowder
-Fill in the brows with Mary Kay Precision Brow Liner// Use Glossier Boy Brow to keep brows down
-Take a fluffy brush and with a small amount of Soleil Tan De Chanel, blend above/on the crease of the eye for a slight definition.
-Apply a thin line of eyeliner and use a small angled brush to make a faint, smoked out wing.
-Smoke some liner on the outer half of the lower lashline.
-Apply a white/flesh colored eyeliner on the waterline (I’ve been using NYX Slide on Eyeliner in Pure White)
-Curl the lashes and apply Glossier Lash Slick/apply another mascara on the outer lashes for a “sleepy-eyed” effect.
-Lightly apply Chanel Soleil Tan De Chanel as a bronzer/contour under the cheekbones, forehead, and very very lightly across the bridge of the nose for a sun-kissed look with fingers or the foundation brush
-Glossier Cloud Paint in any shade
-Dab Glossier niteshine as a highlight on the cheekbones, brow bone, and cupid’s bow.
- Apply the lip—> with this look, you could really go anywhere— from a bright red lip to a nude gloss. The eyes are intense enough to carry the look, but subtle enough to share the stage with a bright lip.

To quote Jenna Marbles: “I got three looks, and that’s IT!!” How does your routine differ? Do you have looks that can be built upon with the same products, or do you have entirely different routines for the situation? You can really get to know someone by how they deal with their face— skincare, makeup, or otherwise. Stay safe— and don't touch your face unless you are doing your skincare (with WASHED hands!!).
