Updated Skincare Routine
New Year, New Routine! If I was really on it, I would do a new post for each season, but time flies when you spend all your money on skincare. Here’s my routine for winter...moisture, moisture, and more moisture. This is a time of nourishing the skin and doing everything I can to prevent wind-burnt cheeks and a nose flakier than the croissants at the coffee shop I write these posts. I also need to do these more because I never realize how much I’m doing until I write it all down and add links...I feel a bit like Patrick Bateman rn. Maybe it’s Maybelline, maybe its murder? Just kidding. Here’s what you came here for.
Morning Routine:
Toning: Gently wipe cotton pad with Son and Park Beauty Water— use Heritage Store Rose Water Spray after (toning and every other step).
Eyes: Pat on one pump of Glossier Bubblewrap on the undereyes— pat excess past the socket onto the cheekbone.
SPF: Either La Roch Posay Anthelios AOX Antioxidant Serum SPF 50 or Anthelios Ultra Light Fluid Facial Sunscreen SPF 60— I honestly like the Serum a lot more— and I typically use it on days I wear face makeup.
Additionally, I use Glossier Futuredew on days when I feel extra dry/when I wear makeup for a clean, natural glow.
Night Routine:
Toning: Gently wipe cotton pad with Son and Park Beauty Water— use Heritage Store Rose Water Spray after (toning and every other step).
Serums: The Ordinary The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 and Mary Kay TimeWise Replenishing Serum + Vitamin C.
Moisturizer: This one is kind of complicated— I switch around a lot. I used up my Laneige Water Bank Cream, and started using Chanel Hydra Beauty Gel Crème and I’m also playing around with a Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide Cream tester.
Oil: Warm up Acure Seriously Soothing Blue Tansy Oil between the hands and apply on the cheeks and neck.
Supplemental Products:
When I get pimples/spots, I use Differin Acne Spot Treatment. I also like to pick at my face a lot (already failing my lone New Year’s Resolution), so when those heal, I use a mixture of Bio-Oil and Vitamin E oil to help the spots fully heal/lighten. I find that the mixture is the best— can use day and night in between serum and moisturizer.
When my skin feels a little rough and has more blackheads than I’d like, I use Philosophy Purity Made Simple Pore Extractor Exfoliating Clay Mask on my T-zone, and then follow up with Glossier Moisturizing Moon Mask. Sometimes, I substitute moisturizer and oil with Moon Mask as a sleeping mask.
Obviously, these products and routine won’t work for everyone. The best thing to do is really find what works best for you, despite online hype and cute packaging. Whether it’s 3 steps or 13, make sure you leave your routine feeling like your skin is nourished and your soul is soothed.
