Review: Glossier Balm Dotcom (Mango)
REVIEW:GLOSSIER BALM DOTCOM (MANGO)
Pop open the tube— and smell paradise.
I was super excited when Glossier announced their newest flavor of balm dotcom. I love ANYTHING mango flavored and EVERYTHING Glossier, so what could go wrong? Nothing, obviously. According to Glossier’s website, balm dotom is “A hydrating, long-lasting, multipurpose lip balm and skin salve that’s packed with antioxidants and natural emollients to nourish and repair dry, chafed skin.” (Glossier) They’re not joking around either. The balm glides on and makes your lips instantly smoother. When I first got it, it was still a bit cold outside, and my lips were SUPER chapped. I put Mango to the test, and let me tell you, I’m not letting this man go (bad pun, sorry). Call this product crust-be-gone. One use, pea-sized amount, no exfoliation of the lips beforehand. The balm left my lips glossy and silky to the touch. While the balm is greatly layered over another product to keep moisture in, it more than holds its own in bringing moisture to the table. There’s a light coral tint. Not necessarily noticeable in a swatch, but it does enhance the lips nicely. One sniff sends you to a sandy beach with a drink in your hand. The scent is far from overpowering— a sweet smell just grazing your nose. I also felt that it felt smoother than the other formulas, which might’ve just been me (they all have the same ingredients, besides the flavor/scent). Castor oil and beeswax work as emollients, to keep moisture retained. Cupuacu Fruit extract (a tropical fruit from South American rainforests) is used as a moisturizer. Think of it as shea’s lighter, more moisturizing older sister. It almost felt more oily, not necessarily in a bad way, but that could contribute to the smoother feel and how well it moisturized my lips. Not to mention the stickers. The stickers! Glossier sends (or gives, depending on if you buy it online or not) a page of super cute mango-themed stickers that go perfectly with the balm (not pictured— I forgot lol). I genuinely can’t think of anyone who wouldn’t like this product. My mom, who doesn’t even like mangoes, loved it. Mango Balm Dot Com is nothing less than a stress-free, travel-free tropical treat. Maybe a $12 tube of lip balm is a bit much, but isn’t it better to treat yourself?
